Women Up R&D 2025: Five Usach Researchers Awarded for Innovation in Science

The Faculty of Chemistry and Biology and the Faculty of Science at the University of Santiago, Chile (Usach) have announced the inaugural winners of the Women Up R&D grant. This initiative is spearheaded by the Female Leadership and Participation Axis of the Science 2030 project, under the Science Up Consortium, to foster gender equity in high-level scientific research.

FIU Workshop: Collaborative Research for National Challenges

The first FIU Usach Workshop: Articulating Capacities in R&D&I, held on Thursday, July 17, saw a strong turnout from the research community at the University of Santiago, Chile. On this occasion, the event was honored by the visit of researcher Ernesto Vivares, Ph.D. in Politics from the University of Sheffield, UK, who specializes in international political economy of development, development financing, and Latin American regionalism.

ESUS Team Prepares for Formula SAE to Test Innovative Design and Tech

The ESUS team was founded 15 years ago by former student Gonzalo Pacheco, who had the foresight to create a solar car when discussions about new energy matrices were just beginning. From that initial model, four more were developed until 2018. Then, new generations embraced the challenge, adapting to the evolving needs of the industry by designing electric cars, which opened the door to participating in "Formula SAE." In this new context, the ESUS team took on the demanding task of designing a racecar, complete with all the intricate mechanical and electrical components involved.

Students Convert Vehicle into Mobile Carpentry Hub for La Araucanía Youth

In the first semester of 2025, a team of fifth-year students transformed a 1997 Suzuki Super Carry into a mobile carpentry workshop. This vehicle, owned by architect and former professor Willy Muñoz’s father, is destined to bring hands-on learning to children in Villarrica and the surrounding Araucanía Region.
