The Universidad de Santiago de Chile is a public institution that belongs to the State and its origin was the School of Arts and Crafts, founded in 1849 by President Manuel Bulnes. Since then, this higher education institution has made significant contributions to the country’s progress.
Nowadays, the University gives priority to taking an active and central role in the country's development, from an institutional and academic context that promotes social mobility and seeks to achieve the highest quality standards in its processes of creation, preservation, dissemination and application of knowledge.

The University of Santiago de Chile is a public State higher education institution that is autonomous and heir to an ancient tradition to the progress of the country.
