The Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (CEDENNA, in Spanish) led by the Universidad de Santiago, with the participation of academics from diverse institutions, is providing, on the basis of its researches, main contributions such as:  new containers for foods, improvements in the raising of farming animals and fishes, cleaning of water and soil, encapsulation of antibiotics and the production of specific sensors.

CEDENNA’s mission is to become an internationally- competitive research center in nanoscience and nanotechnology that is focused mainly in the generation of meaningful contributions to knowledge, the promotion of development in technological innovations, based on this emerging area, and the formation of highly- qualified  human resources.

CEDENNA is formed by a multidisciplinary staff that comprises researchers and academics from different universities. They work in physics, chemistry, biology, medicine and engineering, together with a number of post doctorate students who won a scholarship, and also many doctorate, Master’s degrees and undergraduate students.
